Não é de hoje que a cena do Doom Metal italiano é responsável por nos trazer bandas de muita qualidade dentro do estilo, isso já é uma longa tradição do país. Anteriomente no blog eu já falei sobre o impressionante debut da banda Messa, e agora, venho falar de outra banda italiana que fez sua estréia em 2016 e vem recebendo uma série de críticas positivas sobre o seu trabalho, esta é a Haunted.
Lançado no dia 31 de Agosto pela Twin Earth Records, o álbum auto intitulado é um culto à musica pesada e sombria, que se desenvolve ao longo das 5 ótimas faixas contidas no trabalho. A banda formada por Valerio Cimino (bateria), Francesco Bauso (guitarra), Cristina Chimirri (vocal), Frank Tudisco (baixo) e Francesco Orlando (guitarra), nos conduz por um atmosfera obscura onde o ritmo arrastado e o peso constante dos instrumentos é realizado de uma forma muito sólida, mantendo um padrão de qualidade muito bem apurado.
A sonoridade da banda tem uma moldagem fácil de se assimilar e que rapidamente cria um elo com o ouvinte, esse tom familiar na música da Haunted é um dos pontos que fazem com que o álbum seja uma experiência bem satisfatória. Como citei anteriormente, o ritmo arrastado que a banda segue é muito eficiente e traz uma série de riffs altamente pesados e um contraste interessante entre a dupla de guitarristas, em diversos momentos enquanto uma é responsável por manter a base pesada que é um dos pilares dessa sonoridade, a outra é responsável por executar alguns riffs em tons mais estridentes, psicodélicos e solos alucinantes. A vocalista Cristina é dona de uma voz hipnotizante e que se encaixa perfeitamente nesse tipo de som, ela é nossa guia por esse clima oculto que a Haunted possui.
Mencionar quais faixas mais me agradaram em um trabalho tão sólido e bem construído como esse não é uma tarefa fácil e nem justa com a consistência que cada uma delas apresentam. Mas destaco a importância que a faixa de abertura Nightbreed possui, ela tem uma eficiência notável que é a de imediatamente introduzir com precisão o ouvinte dentro do universo particular da Haunted, somos fisgados logo nos primeiros riffs da faixa, e logo após o seu fim, estamos sedentos por mais algumas doses dessa sonoridade que remete bem ao clima dos filmes de terror italianos, além de trazer uma moldagem que nos lembra a Windhand. Dito isso, a Haunted tem o que é preciso para agradar e qualidade de sobra para se destacar em meio à tantos lançamentos do ano, um álbum que merece ser escutado em alto e bom som, e é indiscutivelmente uma pérola do Doom italiano.

It’s not from today that the Italian Doom Metal scene is responsible for bringing us bands of great quality within the style, that’s a long tradition in the country. Anteriorly on the blog I’ve talked about the impressive debut of Messa, and now I come to speak of another Italian band that made its debut in 2016 and has received a number of positive reviews about your work, the band Haunted.
Released on August 31 by the Twin Earth Records, the self titled album is a cult to the dark and heavy music, which develops along the five great tracks on the job. The band formed by Valerio Cimino (drums), Francesco Bauso (guitar), Cristina Chimirri (vocals), Frank Tudisco (bass) and Francesco Orlando (guitar), leads us down a dark atmosphere where the dragged pace and the constant weight of the instruments it’s carried out in a very solid way, keeping a very accurate level of quality.
The sound of the band has an easy molding to assimilate and quickly creates a link with the listener, this familiar tone in Haunted’s music is one of the points that make the album to be a very satisfying experience. As I mentioned earlier, the dragged pace that the band follows is very efficient and has a number of highly heavy riffs and an interesting contrast between the guitarists duo, at various times while one is responsible for maintaining the heavy base that is one of the pillars of this sound, the other is responsible for performing some riffs in more strident tones, psychedelic vibe and hallucinatory solos. The vocalist Cristina owns a mesmerizing voice and that fits perfectly in this kind of sound, she is our guide for this occult atmosphere that the band has.
Mentioning the more pleased tracks for me in such a solid work and well built as this is not an easy task and not just with consistency that each of them have. But I emphasize the importance of the opening track Nightbreed has, it has a remarkable efficiency which is to immediately introduce precisely the listener into the private world of Haunted, we are soon hooked in the first riffs of the track, and after its end, we are thirsty for a few more doses of this sound that refers to the climate of Italian horror movies, and bring a molding that reminds us Windhand. That said, Haunted has what it takes to please and quality to stand out among the many releases of the year, an album that deserves to be heard in the louder volume, and is arguably one Italian Doom Metal pearl.
