Se ao pensar em música pesada e arrastada a Áustria não surge entre os países que você tem como referência, isso está prestes à mudar com o novo álbum da banda Tarlung, intitulado Beyond the Black Pyramid. Formada em 2013 na cidade de Viena e já contando com um álbum auto intitulado lançado em 2013, a banda retorna com seu mix entre Sludge, Stoner e Doom que reúne características bem conhecidas pelos fãs de bandas como Bongzilla, Dopethrone, entre outros.
Beyond the Black Pyramid é extremamente sujo, pesado e preza pelo ritmo arrastado que tanto adoramos. O álbum é formado por nove faixas e possui uma duração total que ultrapassa uma hora de duração, se mantendo firme e preciso na hora de emplacar riffs monolíticos em composições extensas e viscerais. E você sabe que a banda está disposta a soar o mais pesado possível quando até mesmo na introdução que muitos julgariam previamente se tratar de uma composição exclusivamente acústica, demonstra brevemente um pouco do que iremos encontrar ao longo do álbum. Essas seções acústicas e outras mais suaves que contrastam com a abordagem principal do grupo, surpreendentemente aparecem novamente no álbum, como na “Kings and Graves” (uma das faixas que mais me agradaram no álbum) ou na “Resignation”.
Há alguns pontos que eu queria destacar no álbum, como à abordagem vocal incrivelmente poderosa e agressiva, utilizando guturais cavernosos que são frequentes ao longo do álbum, destacando “Mud Town” e a faixa título como exemplos. Apostando em passagens monolíticas e outras estruturas mais conhecidas, a banda demonstra habilidade na hora de construir as faixas, apresentando algumas variações que além de interessantes, servem para dar novos “ganchos” e te manter imerso na sonoridade lamacenta do grupo. E isso se coloca à prova levando em consideração como a banda aposta em faixas mais extensas, “Dying Of The Light”, “The Prime Of Your Existence” e “Born Dead” são aquelas que mais exigiram por uma repetição imediata ao escutar o álbum pela primeira vez.
A TarLung não foge muito do que você poderia esperar de um lançamento dessa esfera, mas felizmente, se mostra bem eficiente e capaz de criar uma sonoridade que fará os amantes do Stoner / Sludge / Doom encontrarem em Beyond The Black Pyramid, um álbum que corresponde às expectativas.

ALBUM REVIEW : TARLUNG – BEYOND THE BLACK PYRAMID
If when you think of heavy and dragged music Austria does not arise among the countries you have as a reference, this is about to change with the new album by Tarlung titled Beyond The Black Pyramid. Formed in 2013 in the city of Vienna and already counting with a self titled album released in the same year, the band returns with their mix between Sludge, Stoner and Doom that brings together well-known features by fans of bands such as Bongzilla and Dopethrone.
Beyond the Black Pyramid is extremely filth, heavy and cherishes the dragged rhythm that we love so much. The album consists of nine tracks and has a total duration that exceeds 1 hours of duration, while maintaining firm and precise time to tackle monolithic riffs in extensive and visceral compositions. And you know that the band is willing to sound as heavy as possible when even in the introduction that many would previously judge to be an exclusively acoustic composition, briefly shows a little of what we will find along the album. These acoustics passages and other softer sections that contrast with the group’s main approach, surprisingly appear again on the album, as in “Kings and Graves” (one of the bands that I liked most on the album) or “Resignation”.
There are some points I wanted to highlight on the album, such as the incredibly powerful and aggressive vocal approach, utilizing cavernous guttural that are frequent throughout the album, highlighting “Mud Town” and the title track as examples. Betting on monolithic passages and other well-known structures, the band demonstrates skill at the time of constructing the songs, presenting some variations that are also interesting and serve to give new “hooks” and keep you immersed in the muddy sound of the group. And this is the evidence taking into consideration as the band bets on more extensive songs, “Dying of The Light”, “the Prime of Your Existence” and “Born Dead” are the ones that demanded the most for an immediate repetition when listening to the album for the first time.
TarLung does not flee much of what you could expect from an album of this sphere but fortunately it shows very efficient and able to create a sound that will make the lovers of Stoner/Sludge/Doom find in Beyond The Black Pyramid, an album that corresponds to expectations.
